Dari Teks ke Konteks: Reinterpretasi Hadis Murtad Faqtulūhu untuk Penguatan Moderasi dalam Pendidikan Islam

Angga Frananda

Abstract

This article re-examines the meaning of the apostasy hadith faqtulūhu, which is textually often understood as an absolute theological sanction, thereby triggering tension with the principle of religious freedom and fostering an exclusive understanding in the educational realm. Utilizing a qualitative Content Analysis method and an interdisciplinary approach integrating John Searle's pragmatic linguistics, the science of Ma'ani, and Al-Qarafi's theory of Tasharrufat al-Rasul, this study deconstructs the illocutionary force of the command. The findings indicate that this hadith does not function as an eternal Tabligh (universal legislative) directive, but rather as a contextual security-political policy under Tasharruf bil-Imamah (actions as a head of state) to respond to high treason during wartime. This finding definitively invalidates the claim of theological coercion within Islamic teachings. Pedagogically, the implications of this research demand the renewal of the Islamic education curriculum and teachers' instructional strategies to be more contextual, aiming to cultivate students' critical reasoning and accurately strengthen the values of religious moderation.
